THIS IS BUCKSHOT SPEEDWAY'S OFFICIAL 602 LATE MODEL CLASS RULESET. YOUR CAR MUST LEGALY MEET THESE STANDARDS AND DEMINSIONS IN ORDER TO PASS TECH INSPECTIONS. IF YOUR CAR IS NOT WITHIN OUR ASSIGNED RULESET STANDARDS, YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED, NO MATTER YOUR FINISHING RACE POSITION.

  • All cars are subject to inspection by Buckshot Speedway at any time during the event. 

  • Buckshot Speedway reserves the right to confiscate suspicious, or deemed illegal components.

  • Buckshot Speedway reserves the right to alter or amend these rules at any time in the interest of fair competition.

SAFETY RULES

  1. ​Driver safety is the driver’s responsibility! This is not the area of the Race Car to try & save money. Money spent on driver safety is always well worth it.
  2. All cars must have a fully charged fire 2 lb. extinguisher mounted within reach of the driver. Series recommends a 5 lb. halon system.
  3. All cars must have 3” seat belts with shoulder harness and must be attached to the roll cage. (2 years maximum age strongly recommended.)
  4. Head & Neck restraint strongly recommended. Containment type racing seat strongly recommended.
  5. Drivers must wear a complete fire suit. Gloves highly recommended!!
  6. All cars must have a kill switch within easy reach of the driver, and clearly marked “Off” and “On”.
  7. All cars must have a quality fuel cell with roll over valve(check valve) in fuel cell vent.
  8. Any pre-race technical/safety inspection and car or equipment is deemed unsafe by officials will result in not being allowed to compete. Official’s decisions are final!
  9. All track specific general safety rules or requirements will apply at all times to all participants.
  10. RaceCeiver one way radios are REQUIRED at every sanctioned event. Failure to have a RaceCeiver(or equivalent one-way device) could result in disqualification. If there is a malfunction of your device (i.e. dead battery, ear phone failure, etc.) you MUST notify race officials in order to repair your RaceCeiver, or buy a new one.
  11. NO two-way radios, cell phones, or other communication devices will be allowed. RaceCeiver is the ONLY communication device permitted AND IS MANDITORY. Drivers caught with any other communication device will be disqualified for that event (heat or feature). No lighted signal devices(light sticks, flashlights, cell phones, etc.)
  12. No mirrors are allowed at any location on the car.

ENGINE
  1. Chevrolet Performance Part #88958602/19258602.
  2. Quicksilver 357 Part #’s – 8M0156572 & 8M0189741.
  3. No changes are allowed to the engine-Including but not limited to: Intake Manifold, Heads, Valve Cover, Front Cover, Oil Pan, Harmonic Balancer or any other part/parts on or in the engine.
  4. Engine’s GM Serial Number, and when applicable, Crate USA Build Certification Number must be clearly visible to tech/inspector.
  5. No Vacuum Pumps
  6. Engine setback will be 6" from the center of the top ball joint to the #1 spark plug with a 1” tolerance on engine setback.
  7. There will be a 50lb penalty forward of the motor plate for each ½” of set back beyond seven inches of engine setback.
  8. No cars with more than 8” of engine setback will be allowed to compete.
​
SEALS
  1. These engines are sealed at the Intake Manifold, Cylinder Head, Front Cover & Oil Pan with Bottle Cap Style Bolts, Original GM Seal Bolts, Allstar Crate Seals, Crate USA Gen.III (Yellow) or Gen.IV (Green) seals are the only seals allowed.
  2. Quicksilver 357 Part#’s 8M0156572 & 8M0189741 will have lead cable type seal.
  3. The sealed engines must remain intact & not be tampered with. Any seals that have been removed or tampered with will make the engine illegal & not eligible for competition.
  4. All Crate Engines must remain stock as they came sealed from the factory. Crate engines must not be altered, modified or changed from factory specs.
  5. Any violation of the engine rules and/or factory specs inside the sealing system of the engine will result in the driver and/or owner being disqualified from the event. 
​
HEADERS
  1. Collector type headers required. Must have four (4) tubes into (1) one collector of a consistent diameter.
  2. Mufflers not required.
  3. No TRY-Y Headers, 180 degree headers or merged headers allowed. No square tube headers allowed.
​
CARBURETOR
  1. Any 4 Barrell Carburetor, Must be Needle, Seat & Accelerator Pump Style (Bypass Style Regulator Ok)
  2. Engine must be Naturally Aspirated
  3. May use (1) one inch, one piece Carburetor Spacer (.040 Tolerance Maximum) with two standard gaskets (maximum 0.070 inch thick); One gasket between intake to spacer & one gasket between spacer to carburetor. At no point may spacer extend into Intake Manifold area.

DISTRIBUTOR
  1. Any Electronic Distributor type ignition system.
  2. No crank trigger, Distributorless, Multi-Coil or magnetic ignition system.
  3. I fusing MSD Box, 6AL or 6ALN is only Ignition Box Allowed. (Programable Ignition Boxes not allowed for ex: MSD6AL-2/MSD-6421 or MSD 6AL/MSD-6530 not legal).
  4. No electronic traction control devices.
  5. MSD Box may be confiscated at any time.

STARTER
  1. All cars must have working starter.
​
WATER PUMP
  1. Cast or aluminum water pumps permitted.
  2. Stock mounted water pump and fans only. NO electric fans.
  3. No electric water pumps allowed.
​
FUEL / FUEL CELL / FUEL PUMP
  1. ​An approved fuel cell (32 gallon max) must be securely mounted in the trunk area of the car inside a .20 gauge metal box supported by a minimum of (two) 2” by 1/8” steel straps.
  2. All fuel cells must be completely visible from rear of car.
  3. Gasoline, E-85, or Racing Gas Only! No Methanol or Alcohol, No Nitrous Oxide, No Propylene Oxide, No Nitromethane, No MTBE, and No CHP.
  4. Fuels must have a specific gravity of less
    than .761. Any fuel with a Specific gravity of  .762 or greater will be disqualified.
  5. It is the racers responsibility to know what he/she is putting in the fuel cell.
  6. Track reserves the right to collect fuel samples & send them for testing at any time.
  7. Stock mount mechanical fuel pump or a reverse mount pump allowed. Tandem pump with power steering ok.
  8. No electrical fuel pumps allowed

TRANSMISSION
  1. Must have at least one forward and one reverse gear in working order.
  2. No straight drives or in and out boxes.
  3. Drive shafts must be painted white- Carbon Fiber drive shafts are legal & recommended. (SAFETY)
  4. Ball Spline Transmissions – Strongly recommended to run carbon fiber drive shafts for safety!

WEIGHT
  1. Weight of 2350 lbs. ***No Fuel Burn Off***
  2. Attached weight must be securely bolted to frame ½” or larger bolts. Weight must be painted white with car number displayed.
  3. Penalty for losing attached weight on the race track is disqualification from the event.
​
BODY
  1. Lucas Oil body rules will apply. CLICK HERE!
  2. No raised or Gurney lips of any type allowed on body.
  3. Doors & quarters must be flat or have an outward body roll.
  4. No doors or body panels allowed to be rolled or curved inward.
  5. No tunneling of any type allowed underneath body, along frame or around fuel cell area.
  6. A stone shield for remote oil filter or transmission is allowed, 24” X 24” maximum located near rear engine plate.
  7. Roofs are optional but a roof cap is highly recommended.
  8. Roof Supports or “C” Pillars on both sides must be made of equal material.
  9. Window openings are allowed but must be the same size opening on the left & right side. If clear lexan window is used it must be used on both sides. Both sides open or both sides closed.
  10. Curved or Arced roof supports allowed; 3” maximum arc allowed at widest point.
  11. Checked with straight edge extended from roof edge to door edge.

SPOILER
  1. Spoiler Size: Maximum 8”
  2. Spoilers must be made of a solid material such as lexan, sheet aluminum or materials of equal strength.
  3. Spoiler & Spoiler supports should be made of equal material on all areas.
  4. No open spoiler supports.
  5. Spoiler Height, Spoiler Width & Angle must be the same at all times for the entire area of the spoiler. No varying spoiler heights or spoiler angles.

FRAME
  1. All frames must be of steel construction.
  2. Square or rectangular frame must have a minimum of 2” x 2” material, .083 wall thickness.
  3. Round frame tubing must have a minimum of 1 3/4" outside diameter, .083 wall thickness.
​
ROLL CAGE​
  1. ​All cars must have a suitable and deemed safe steel roll cage protecting the driver’s compartment, including headrest
  2. Side roll bars are mandatory and must extend into the door panels. A minimum of three (3) bars must be on the left side.
  3. Each bar must be at least 1 1/2" in diameter, with a minimum material thickness of .083”.
  4. Roll cages must be welded to frame.
​
WHEELBASE
  1. Minimum wheelbase will be 103”.
​
SUSPENSION
  1. Standard Late Model Suspensions only.
  2. No spring loaded or shock type 4 bar rods. Only standard solid bar 4 bar rods.
  3. No torsion bar front or rear suspension.
  4. SWAY BAR OK.
  5. Standard one piece bird cages; No split bird cages.
  6. One mechanical traction device allowed, either 5th coil or torque link. (not both) One 90/10 allowed with torque link mounted center top of rear end to frame.
  7. One coil spring per wheel.
  8. No stack springs on any corner including 5th coil.
  9. No progressive springs.
  10. One shock & one spring per corner of car.
  11. One Bump Stop on right front only, must be Christmas Tree Style.
  12. No Roller Skate, Magnets, Pucks or any other style bumps allowed.
  13. Bumps cannot be stacked, packers/shims ok. Spring Rubbers ok.
  14. Take up spring allowed (must be able to smash completely with your hands)
  15. Chassis Brackets must be fixed, no movement
​
SHOCKS
  1. Shocks, at any position on the race car, including lift bar or torque arm shocks, must be constructed of magnetic steel or aluminum.
  2. Shocks of the “Thru Rod” style are not permitted.
  3. Shocks must have symmetric, one piece body.
  4. No removable gas heads.
  5. No adjustable shocks.
  6. No remote reservoir or cannister shocks.
  7. No piercing valves.
  8. No remote adjustment of shocks is permitted, including electronic adjustment whether hard wired or wireless.
  9. Shock/Damper Devices that are, or that can be referred to or defined as “INETER” or referred to or defined as “J-DAMPER” are not permitted.
  10. No internal bump stops of any kind.
  11. One shock per wheel only, this includes left rear.

BRAKES
  1. Steel brake rotors only.
  2. No carbon fiber, titanium, or other exotic material brake systems allowed.
​
WHEELS
  1. Any brand or type of wheel allowed.
  2. Must be mounted with lug nuts.
  3. No knock-off or center-lock wheels.
  4. 14” maximum wheel width.
​
TIRES
  1. ​Hoosier D21, 1350, D55 & 1600 Permitted. American Racer 44, 48 and 56 or PRO 2 & PRO 3 permitted.
  2. Grinding/Buffing of tire is permitted.
  3. Use of carbide/nail style discs is prohibited.
  4. Tires must remain in factory manufactured condition.
  5. Any chemical alterations from factory manufactured tire is prohibited.
  6. Tires may be Durometered and must meet benchmark at any time. Any tire that does not punch properly will be disqualified for the event.
  7. Buckshot may use “The Sniffer” as one of its tools to determine the presence of an unapproved chemical whether inside or outside the tire or wheel.
  8. Tires may be confiscated and sent to a Laboratory for testing to verify that the tires meet American Racer/Hoosier specs as well.
  9. If unapproved Chemical Alterations are detected the driver will be disqualified from the event and lose points & prize money.
  10. American Racer & Hoosier Racing Tires strictly forbids any chemical alteration of the tire carcass and/or tread compound such as Tire soaking or use of tread softener.
  11. American Racer & Hoosier Racing Tires strictly forbids the physical defacement (removing, altering, or covering ) of the tire sidewall markings in any manner.
  12. Failure to comply with this warning could result in premature or catastrophic tire failure resulting in serious injury or death.
  13. It is the driver’s responsibility to know what is on their race car at all times. Any used wheels or tires that may be suspect by the driver should not be used.
  14. Penalties and fines may be imposed by Buckshot Speedway to driver/owner if tires are found to be  illegal/altered.

PROTESTS / VIOLATIONS / CLAIMS / FINES
​
ENGINE CLAIMS
  1. $500.00 for Top End/Cubic Inch tech for Flat Top Built Engine, $250.00 goes to the track, the remainder goes to the winner of the protest.
  2. $200.00 to P&G any engine.
​
SHOCK CLAIM
  1. Shock claim rule: $300.00 per shock.
  2. The driver claiming the shocks must finish in the top 5 and on the lead lap, and the driver ONLY can buy shock.
  3. DOES NOT INCLUDE SPRING OR HARDWARE.
  4. Refusal to allow shocks to be claimed or confiscated will result in driver losing all points and money for the event.
  5. Buckshot Speedway may confiscate or claim shocks at any time.
  6. If Shocks are found to be illegal, driver will lose all points and money for the event.

ALL PROTEST MONEY IS NON-REFUNDABLE! ANYONE FOUND ILLEGAL WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE EVENT AND RECIEVE NO PRIZE MONEY.
